Born in Jamaica in the year 1981 to parents Iva and Vincent Hunter in little district called Lewis Store my childhood years are filled with fond memories. I began school at an early age since my mother was a teacher at Highgate Hall Age Primary in Highgate, St. Mary and I was drawn to music as my dad had a small sound system that would fill the air with Bob Marleys albums every Sunday evening after church. Successfully passing my Common Entrance Examination in 1992 I moved on to St. Mary High School then subsequently to Marymount Business College and pursued additional Business Courses. Read More...

Swim through your FEARS!

For years I have been trying to learn how to swim. To date i am no good at it. My first instructor Dionne  tried very hard to teach me how to get it done one summer.. still nothing happened. KING also tried and nothing happened, and both are excellent swimming instructors.

My kids were the same, until I decided that I wouldn't allow them to give up. One day while watching my son and his swim coach i noticed something different about his attitude. This time he wasn't only talking to Tash, his instructor he was listening keenly before he gave it a try. Before he dived once more in the pool he adjusted his entire body shifting his weight from side to side. The he adjusted his feet and dived in. He swam the whole length of the pool without stopping for the first time.. FINALLY HE GOT THE TECHNIQUE..

After his session was over I asked him how did he start swimming so well after all this time. "What happened today?" i asked him . He said " Mom when you fear something you already fail at any attempts you will make even before you start. I feared the deep end of he pool so whenever I swam I would stay alert and stop swimming before I reached the deep end. This messes up my entire concentration as I am more focused on my fear of the deep end than getting my strokes and kicks in line. The minute I decided to conquer the fear I made it without stopping. "

All the way home I thought about what my son shared. This is entirely true not only in swimming but in all aspects of our daily lifes. The fear we have already set back our success even before we start our journey. Food for thought?
Have a great day...
