Born in Jamaica in the year 1981 to parents Iva and Vincent Hunter in little district called Lewis Store my childhood years are filled with fond memories. I began school at an early age since my mother was a teacher at Highgate Hall Age Primary in Highgate, St. Mary and I was drawn to music as my dad had a small sound system that would fill the air with Bob Marleys albums every Sunday evening after church. Successfully passing my Common Entrance Examination in 1992 I moved on to St. Mary High School then subsequently to Marymount Business College and pursued additional Business Courses. Read More...

Summer DAZE

to my neighbours house since there was around 5 children my age group living there. Niesha, Shena, Kadeen, Miguel and Raymond. We would pack a crocus bag for the days adventure.

In the bag we would steal:-

A little sugar (for sugar and river water beverage)
A little salt (to eat turn mangoes, guavas, passion fruits etc)
A knife (self explanatory) lol
A cutlass (To cut cane
A piece of rope (swing on tree branches)
Some margarine (for roasting corn)
A box of matches
A small pot (to boil corn parch janga caught in the river) and two plastic cups.

Armed with our flip flops and long pants four girls and two boys head to the big farm/bush that they owned. Same thing we do every day of summer except Saturday (Church day) and Sundays (wash hair and rest day)…we would swing on branches, skated down the steep hills, play in the river, climbed trees, ate mangoes until we were sick, played hide and seek, bunka skate etc

We stayed there until late evening when our aunts or uncles shouted “ Donna, Shena, Neisha, Raymond, Miguel, Kadeen ALL A UNNU COME NOW DINNER READY. Then and only then we would make our way back up the hills to the yard to take bath. Even tho I had all the modern amenities at my home I looked forward to taking a shower in my neighbours out door shower and eating in there outdoor kitchen hahaha. I hardly ate summer dinners at my home (Sorry mommy)

I had a great childhood filled with wonderful summer days leaving me with precious memories.

Thanks to my adopted Aunts the Snape sisters, Meline, Carolyn and Caprice and to their Mom and Dad. I am still reliving those moments..
