Born in Jamaica in the year 1981 to parents Iva and Vincent Hunter in little district called Lewis Store my childhood years are filled with fond memories. I began school at an early age since my mother was a teacher at Highgate Hall Age Primary in Highgate, St. Mary and I was drawn to music as my dad had a small sound system that would fill the air with Bob Marleys albums every Sunday evening after church. Successfully passing my Common Entrance Examination in 1992 I moved on to St. Mary High School then subsequently to Marymount Business College and pursued additional Business Courses. Read More...

Dont Quit Just Yet...

Lunch Time Meditation

On Wednesday afternoon I made up my mind before I started jogging that I would be doing a 5K run. I love to run but not for long, so my aim is to start training for a 5k then move on to 10K in the not so near future. It is customary for me to mentally plan out my workout but truth is I rarely complete my plans and after an hour I would find the simplest excuses to exit the park. Once

a mosquito bit me and I just ran to my car convincing myself it was an Aedes aegypti mosquito and I didn’t want to get Chik V, so any mental excuse would work after running and walking for an hour.

So I am ready to jog

Sweats check

Sneaker Check

Ipod playing my soca music strapped to my arm check

Belly wrap check (abit too tight though)

Lets DO this Dee

During my warm up I decided that I would complete 10 laps before doing some brisk walking then run again when I was ready.  After the 6th lap my legs were still holding up so I increased the volume in my ears which increased my adrenaline rush  and i pushed harder to complete the 10 laps…

Just as I was about to stop running I felt a palm in the centre of my back forcing me to continue running. I was shocked as I had no idea what was happening and in a quick reflex action I removed the earphones from my ear , moved to one side (still running) and looked around (still being pushed) and heard the words “ Don’t quit, Not yet”.

Still running along side this stranger, a handsome young man he went on to tell me that he overheard two other women behind me who were  jogging at a slower pace saying they are following my lead and that I was doing a great jog. He also told me that they both came to the park feeling lousy but watching me pushing at my own pace inspired them to push harder. They were on their 3rd lap. I was shocked yet inspired, I glanced over my shoulder and saw them and two thumbs up greeted me. My new friend and I did 8 additional laps before I decided I really had to walk and couldn’t run anymore. When I stopped my knees were wobbling like crazy.

While walking I took a recap of what had happened.

I had made up my mind to complete 10 laps and having done that I was ready to stop. I never thought of pushing beyond  10 since that was my goal..but when I was forced then encouraged to continue I did.  Also My actions inspired two women to push a little harder and with every step I made they decided that they would also make one.

In life we never know who is looking to us for inspiration. We never know that we can truly push harder until someone forces or inspires us to dig deeper. It is important for us to set good examples for others to follow.  I am still beaming from the experience. There were countless times I wanted to stop but every time I remembered the ladies behind me dragging  and forcing their feet and pushing  harder it encouraged me to crank up the music, tuck in my abs and Dig Deeper..

At Home after a work out..
